Android will keep on in your living area says report

A rose by any other name will nonetheless prick your fingers
Sources at Gigaom say Google is receiving prepared to abandon the Google Tv branding, but Android will stay embedded in televisions and set-leading boxes.  According to "an executive from a customer electronics manufacturer that has been creating Google Television devices," Google is not however prepared to announce anything, but the "new" solution will be called Android Tv.

Google has to do anything. Google Tv, which had a promising commence, has languished along, operating an old version of Android and seeing very little in the way of support and consumer adoption. We're all about Android right here, but even we admit that Google Tv only tends to make sense for those deeply embroiled into the ecosystem, or when one of the units themselves are on a fire sale.

Google has previously announced that they will be updating the platform from Honeycomb (yes, Honeycomb!). Possibly this is element of the strategy they have to remain in the living room. Let's hope they can grow to be relevant this time about.
